The Gatugi Coffee Factory lies in Nyeri County in Central Kenya and is part of the larger Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society. They produce around 439,000kgs of coffee cherries annually during the harvest season of October through January. Their washed process starts with the delivery of coffee cherries to the coffee factory after being hand-picked directly from the tree. The coffee undergoes a three-step wash process, first to sort, during fermentation, and then post-fermentation. The coffee is then naturally dried in the sunlight before being sent to the mill for milling, grading, and bagging.
