Keny Adarme is a young grower in Aponte and part of the Inga Indigenous community. His father, Fernando, is one of the town leaders who helps Pergamino coordinate the group and source these beautiful coffees. Unlike other Aponte youth, Keny decided to stay in his hometown and continue as a 3rd generation coffee grower. Following other producers in town, Keny switched from washed to honey processed coffee on his farm, Finca La Chorrera, after seeing his neighbors’ success and premiums. After several years in the business, Keny has become a role model for those in Aponte, convincing them to stay instead of leaving to find work in the cities. Getting people to stay will support the community, allowing the Ingas to continue with their centuries’ old traditions.
