Since Rosa Rogelia Castillo was a child, she was taught the values of protecting and loving the land from her father, also a coffee producer. Rosa is now a 74 year old female coffee producer and the widow of Romulo Aguilar Guevara. Since her husband Romulo, a member of COOPAFSI for 30 years, passed away in 2010, she has dedicated herself to working her coffee farms. While she does the majority of the work on her own, Rosa’s 10 year old grandson lives with her and keeps her company throughout the day. She is a proud member of the women’s committee where they are exposed to projects such as beekeeping, trained in the breeding of small animals, weaving and handicrafts, in order to improve the quality of life of her family.
