Burundi Muramvya Teka comes to us from a group of 400 small holder specialty coffee farmers in Teka Hill, Burundi. These specialty coffee farms are located an average of 1860 meters above sea level, one of the highest in all of Burundi. These specialty coffee farmers all deliver their ripe cherries to the Teka Washing Station. Once the specialty coffee farmers deliver the ripe cherries to the washing station, they are sorted and floated before moving on to processing. Teka washing station was established in 1987 and was named after the hill it’s located on. Teka Hill is a well-known hill in Burundi because it used to be the hill where King Mwezi IV Gisabo lived before the German colonization.
