ABOUT
Angelo Scalco, who is of Italian descent, was born in Poço Fundo and has been growing coffee for over 50 years on his estate that he calls "Sitio Machado". Sitio Machado is located in the community of Goncalves, 10 miles west of Poço Fundo. The coffee varieties that are cultivated on this estate are the Mundo Novo and Yellow Catuai types. Mr. Scalco has three sons, all of whom live with their families on the same farm, and they help cultivate and process the coffee using the full natural process. His sons take part in the harvesting and picking of the ripe coffee cherries while Mr. Scalco takes care of rotating the cherries as they are drying. The entire family understands the importance of growing and processing the harvest correctly because they know this will ensure the production of quality coffee from their farm.
