Guatemala SHB Huehuetenango El Sol Natural (GP)

El Sol is a natural lot from Vides Farms in La Libertad, Huehuetenango, grown between 1,350–1,750 masl. Cherries are handpicked and left to pre-ferment for 24 hours before being weighed, floated, and sorted. The coffee is then patio-dried for 17 days, turned every two hours for the first eight days and twice daily through the end.

Founded in 1958 by Jorge Vides, Vides Farms started with a piece of forested land and a passion for cultivating coffee. While working as a full-time doctor and serving as Director of the National Hospital of Huehuetenango, a hospital that still bears his name today, the farm was his real passion. Furthermore, his commitment to the well-being of others extended beyond medicine. In 1980, he founded a school on the farm. Four years later, Anacafé recognized his dedication by naming him "Distinguished Coffee Grower." In 2001, with the second and third generations now involved, the farm committed fully to specialty coffee production.
