About The Class

This two-day course is designed to give new or prospective roasters the knowledge and skill to find success in the craft of coffee roasting. The class will decide whether to use our Loring S15 Falcon or our Diedrich IR-5.

Topics covered include:

  • Coffee Varieties and Terroir
  • Coffee Processing
  • Green Coffee Metrics
  • Roast profile development
  • Cupping and Quality Control
  • Basic green coffee buying
  • Roastery design
  • Fire safety.

Students will have a chance to participate in hands-on roasting and cupping along with classroom instruction. After two days, students will walk away with newfound confidence and a wealth of information to bring back to their roasting businesses.
