⚖️ On February 20th The Supreme Court struck down broad tariffs siting the IEEPA does not authorize the President to impose tariffs without the approval of congress.

💰They did not rule on refunds for tariffs already collected, leaving that for the lower courts to decide.

☕The administration issued a new 10% tariff, but green coffee is exempt.

☕Organic Peru SHB - La Florida SMBC ☕ This lot comes to us from smallholder producers within Cooperative La Florida. We found it to be sweet and approachable, with top notes of candied nuts carried by a rich dark chocolate body.

☕Costa Rica Tarrazu La Candelilla Geisha Peaberry Finca Palmilera ☕ This geisha peaberry natural micro lot comes to us from La Candelilla in Costa Rica. In the cup, we found notes of peach, raspberry, and floral tones, with a delicate mouthfeel and texture.

☕El Salvador SHG Finca La Esperanza EP☕ Coming soon! Grown on volcanic slopes in El Salvador, Finca La Esperanza is a six-generation family farm rooted in tradition and care. Selectively handpicked, this coffee reflects more than a century of dedication to quality.

Due to destruction from Cyclone Senyar, upcoming arrivals from Sumatra are delayed.❗ To help you manage your inventory, Green Coffee Position Manager Joe Borg shared recommendations to get you through these delays.

☕Single Origin Swaps ☕For organic and non-organic single origins, check out neighboring islands, including Sulawesi, Flores, and Bali. These coffees have similar profiles to Sumatra: low acidity, big chocolate notes, full body, and that cedar/earthy undertone.

☕Replacing Blend Components☕ For blending purposes, try coffees from Uganda and Timor, as these coffees will have similar flavor profiles to the Sumatrans that we all love.

☕Kenya AA Ndaroini ☕ This washed lot comes to us from Ndaroini Factory in Nyeri, Kenya. In the cup, we found soft, lush acidity and a delicate body, with complex, expressive notes of grapefruit, honey, green apple & peach.

🫖Matcha 🫖 NOW BACK IN STOCK! No modern offering is complete without matcha. Unlike other teas where the leaf is only steeped, with matcha you are consuming the entire leaf. It’s great on its own, in lattes, smoothies, or baking!

🫖Organic Matcha Kakitsubata 🫖 Our incredible, limited-stock organic matcha comes to us from at Osada Seicha. This bead-milled matcha has a deliciously creamy mouthfeel with notes of whipping cream, vanilla bean & a light floral finish.

What’s on the RNY Cupping Table this week?

☕Organic Timor-Leste ☕Unlike bordering Indonesia, it’s common for mills in Timor-Leste to fully wash their coffee rather than wet-hull, which results in a smooth and sweet, but still very heavy-bodied and chocolatey, flavor profile.

☕Ethiopia Natural Yirgacheffe Kefyalew Obese Micro Lot☕This natural anaerobic lot comes to us from Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. In the cup, we found notes of green apple, kiwi, and watermelon, with floral complexity, layered sweetness, and a balanced, cohesive finish.

☕Organic Honduras COMSA Marcala SHG☕Coming soon is this fully washed lot from COMSA! The cooperative is organic and Fair Trade certified, which enables them to market their coffee to more international buyers and achieve better prices.

This week we’re excited to be drinking a fresh arrival from Timor-Leste. Unlike Indonesia, which borders it, it’s common practice for mills in Timor-Leste to fully wash their coffee rather than wet-hulling. This results in a smooth and sweet, but still very heavy bodied and chocolatey, flavor profile.
