What does “specialty coffee” really mean in 2025? Here’s how the conversation is evolving👇

☕It used to only mean scoring 80+ on a 100-point scale.
☕Today, it’s more holistic & subjective, taking into account sustainability, context, and value.
☕The SCA’s Coffee Value Assessment (CVA) is reshaping how we define and evaluate quality.
☕Their new form breaks down coffee evaluation into 4 parts: physical, descriptive, affective, and extrinsic.
☕This framework gives us shared language and deeper context across the supply chain, leading to more meaningful discussions about quality.
☕Specialty coffee isn’t just about what’s in the cup—it’s about how it got there, and who was part of that journey🌱
