Introduction to Green Coffee Buying

This class covers all the important fundamentals of buying green coffee. It’s perfect if you are starting a roastery, or if you’re moving into a green coffee buying role within your company. We’ll cover:

– The purchasing process, including roles within the supply chain
– Types of purchases (spot, forward, etc.)
– Important terminology for communicating with your trader
– Basics of harvest cycles, the C-Market, and inventory management
– Introduction to contracts and pricing
– Ethics and responsibilities between buyers and sellers

Students will also develop their own six-month inventory plan taking into account information learned during the lecture and have a chance to discuss them with other participants and Royal NY traders
